If you’re planning to explore Phuket Old Town, there’s great news for budget-conscious and eco-friendly travellers — a free electric bus service, known as the Dragon Line, is now running daily through the heart of the Old Town.

Launched in May 2024 by Phuket City Development (PKCD), the Phuket Smart EV Bus operates along a scenic loop covering many of the area’s main attractions, markets, and shopping streets. It’s part of a trial initiative to reduce traffic congestion and air pollution in the Old Town, while offering tourists and locals a clean, convenient, and totally free way to get around.

  • Service Name: Phuket Smart EV Bus – Dragon Line
  • Hours: 11:00 AM to 10:00 PM, daily
  • Frequency: Every 15–30 minutes
  • Cost: Completely free!

Where Does the Dragon Line Go?

The EV bus follows a loop through Phuket Old Town with several convenient stops at key landmarks and local hotspots, including:

  • Limelight Avenue (Dibuk Road) – Starting and ending point
  • CIMB Bank & Bus Terminal 1 (Phang Nga Road)
  • Royal Phuket City Hotel (walking distance to Phuket Bus Terminal 1 – connect for Phuket Smart Bus Route 2)
  • Opposite Pearl Hotel
  • Phuket Fresh Market 1 (Kaset Market)
  • Office Mate
  • Ko Ang Seafood Restaurant
  • Red Plaza
  • Coffee Talk (next to SCB Bank)
  • Phuket Thai Hua Museum
  • Opposite Krung Thai Bank

With buses running every 15–30 minutes, it’s an easy hop-on-hop-off option if you want to explore local temples, taste authentic street food, or take in the colorful Sino-Portuguese architecture of the Old Town.
